Turning Training into Action – Building a Greener Future at OUTCO

We have spoken about Carbon Literacy Training in previous articles and explained why education is so important to OUTCO as an organisation, but for us this is just the beginning.  It is now important that we turn that awareness and education into practical actions, which are both sustainable and can effect real change.

OUTCO already implements several environmental initiatives, such as the use of white marine salt for winter de-icing, a sustainable alternative to rock salt, through to implementing data-driven solutions that minimize unnecessary gritting.

However, with the knowledge gained from education initiatives like Carbon Literacy training our team will be ready to take additional actions, from small daily changes to significant operational shifts. For example, one immediate step is to optimize our fleet’s fuel usage through better route planning and regular vehicle maintenance, which could cut emissions by up to 25%.

As well as taking affirmative actions to reduce our carbon footprint, there are also some additional advantages to implementing environmental initiatives across the company:
