Why Carbon Literacy Training Matters at OUTCO
The term ‘Greenwashing’ has been used to describe the practice of businesses and organisations taking part, or exaggerating their participation, in environmental initiatives. This is why OUTCO firmly believes Carbon Literacy training is not something businesses should do to just simply tick off a box on a checklist.
If the fight against climate change and the drive towards a sustainable future is truly going to be achieved, then we must fully embrace training and be prepared to implement changes in the real world.
This is particularly pertinent within the outdoor maintenance industry. As a company providing services ranging from winter gritting and snow clearance, right through to grounds maintenance and biodiversity work, OUTCO understands that the need for environmentally conscious operations is as critical as ever.
Three Steps to Achieving Change
As a company, OUTCO is acutely aware of its environmental responsibilities. This is why Carbon Literacy training is so important to us as an organization, and also the reason why we enroll our staff on periodic Carbon Literacy training courses.
We also understand there is more that can be done in terms of being environmentally able as a business. We are not arrogant enough to think we are doing everything right or believe we have all the answers.
So, in order to bring about change from within we are following a simple three step process.
AWARENESS > EDUCATION > ACTION
To address climate change effectively, we first need to be aware of the serious consequences of inaction. This awareness should be paired with targeted education, so we grasp what effective changes look like in practical terms. The process culminates in taking decisive, positive actions to make a real impact.
Through training and education we can empower our team with the knowledge to make greener choices. This will ensure that everyone at OUTCO understands how daily decisions, big and small, can reduce carbon emissions and help protect biodiversity.
By working together, our team can lead the way toward a more sustainable future, supporting both the planet and our clients in making responsible green choices too.
